Ketambe is a small, authentic village in Aceh, North Sumatra. The village is located between the Alas River and Gunung Leuser National Park. Ketambe is a perfect starting point for your jungle adventure to spot the wild orangutans and other wildlife. To make your visit to Ketambe as comfortable as possible, it is recommendable to stay at least one night before and after your trekking in Ketambe. Pondok Wisata Guesthouse is the perfect place to begin an unforgettable jungle experience.
Pondok Wisata Guesthouse
Pondok Wisata is the oldest guesthouse in Ketambe. The name 'Pondok Wisata' means 'House for Tourism.' Since August 2017, we, Irwan and Dieuwertje, have been the proud new owners of this guesthouse. We are honored to keep it within our family.
Currently, we have 8 rooms available: 4 basic rooms, 4 private bungalows, and 2 new luxury bungalows. To ensure availability, we recommend contacting us in advance. Below are the different room options:
- A small basic room for 150.000 idr per night
Each room is equipped with a double bed, mosquito net, private bathroom, and a shared terrace with three other rooms. - A large basic room for 200.000 idr per night
Each room is equipped with a double bed, mosquito net, private bathroom and a shared terrace with three other rooms. - A private bungalow for 250.000 idr per nightEach bungalow is equipped with a double bed, mosquito net, a fan, private bathroom and an own terrace located in the garden.
A family room for 300.000 idr per night
Equipped with a double bed & bunk bed, mosquito net, private bathroom and a shared terrace with 3 other rooms.A luxury bungalow for 500.000 idr per night (NEW)
Each bungalow is equipped with a doubled bed, mosquito net, a fan, private bathroom with hot shower & sink, a small inside living area, your own terrace and a fishpond in front of your bungalow.
In the garden, you'll find large trees, where monkeys and birds will observe you during your stay. At the back of our guesthouse, you can find Gunung Leuser National Park, and if you're lucky, you might even spot orangutans or hornbills before you begin your jungle trek!
The guesthouse has its own restaurant with a varied menu. Take advantage of this convenience and enjoy your breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. The restaurant offers delicious Indonesian or Aceh dishes, but we can also prepare pasta or a traditional Dutch stamppot (mashed potatoes) for you. The restaurant serves as a meeting point for the locals, so you can enjoy the chance to meet the people from the village of Ketambe and spend the evening with them.
